TOPIC: Rescue Plans
#167
Rescue Plans 9 Months, 4 Weeks ago
Hi

I am currently putting together a rescue plan for entry into a deep excavation.

I was wondering if anyone has a template for a rescue plan?

We have discussed the rescue plan and all know what we are going to do, but now I have to put in on paper and would like some ideas on how to set it out.

If anyone can help it would be appreciated.

Thanks
Safetygirl

Hi Safety Girl

If you know what you are going to do. it would be wise to a conduct a JSAE or a risk assessment and the formulate a plan in the even of the enivitable. Has your organization undertaken and formal rescue training?.....I would be interested to know how you get on.
Do you have a direct email address

Hi Peter

Yes we have done risk assessment, SWMS, etc.

I was just looking for a format for a rescue plan which I have been able to find and have attached to the SWMS.

We have a rescue team who have been trained in confined space rescues and also first aid/CPR etc. so I know they are competent to undertake a rescue if required.

We also undertook a trial run of a rescue before we actually started undertaking the work which went extremely well.

We have really eliminated the work type chances of anything causing an emergency as part of our risk assessment but you cannot eliminate the possibility of someone having a medical emergency can you?
